    BODEGAS CARO
Bodegas CARO is a partnership between Nicolas Catena Zapata and Domaine Barons de Rothschild-Lafite which started in 1999, with its own winery located in Godoy Cruz, Mendoza, near the city. They have a separate winery, with an independent oenologist, and aim at blending French and Argentine traditions and grapes, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec, from their 65 hectares of vineyards in high altitude zones.

Bodegas CARO

James Suckling - Incredible aromas of spice, cedar, walnut and dark berry. Floral too. Spectacular nose. Full body, ultra-fine tannins and a racy and refined finish.
Fresh and succulent.
Made from old vines of Malbec in Compuertas and cabernet sauvignon from Altamira.
Such finesse. Half the normal production. The best wine ever from Domaine Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) and Nicolas catena winery.

Bodegas CARO

Wine Spectator -
Compact, featuring concentrated cassis, wild berry, spice box and aromatic tobacco notes wound with full yet fine tannins. Full-bodied and complex, delivering a long aftertaste of fruit and sweet spice.

Bodegas CARO

Wine Spectator -
The 2009 Caro Blend is made up of 60% Malbec and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon aged for 18 months in 80% new French oak. A glass-coating opaque purple colour, it is a serious wine with a Bordeaux-like personality. Captivating aromas of sandalwood, exotic spices, violets, leather, and assorted black fruits titillate the nose while pointing to a full-bodied, plush, layered wine that manages to stay light on its feet despite its size.

    CHILE
    ALMAVIVA
One of the
Top Chilean estates.

23 75cl ALMAVIVA
Puente Alto
Almaviva

James Suckling:
A glorious and complex nose of tobacco, blackberries and hints of stones and flowers. Hints of bitter chocolate. Full-bodied, very tight and compacted. Linear backbone gives this form and tension. It has the same character on the palate as well as cayenne and other spice. Loved the 2014 but this shows more fine-grained tannins. So balanced and harmonious. A blend of 69% cabernet sauvignon, 24% carmenere, 5% cabernet franc and 2% petit verdot. Needs four or five years in bottle but a joy to taste now.
2015 £112.00 JS100
2019-35

Voted No1 Wine by James Suckling for 2017!

24 37.5 ALMAVIVA
Puente Alto
Almaviva

Wine Spectator: Elegant, with good cut to the pure-tasting dark plum, green herb and dried cherry flavours that feature plenty of loamy notes. Espresso and dark chocolate accents fill the refined finish. Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenère, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.

Casa Lapostolle

jamessuckling.com:
An extremely aromatic and focused Clos Apalta with blackberry, blueberry, floral and hot stone character. Full body, very linear and ultra-fine tannins. Focused and tight. Precise and long. This is the most polished and beautiful definition of this wine ever. You want to drink it now but better in 2020. A blend of carmenere, cabernet sauvignon and merlot
2014 £102.00 JS100

    CONCHA y TORO
An excellent Chilean estate:
Viña Concha y Toro was founded in 1883 by Don Melchor de Concha y Toro and his wife Doña Emiliana Subercaseaux. They planted their first vineyard of Bordeaux varieties in the Maipo Valley, attracted by the region’s advantageous position between the Andes and the Pacific Ocean.
Don Melchor is the flagship wine of Concha y Toro, a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon cuvee that was started in 1987, making it Chile’s senior icon.
40 75cl 'TERRUNYO'
CARMENERE
Concha y Toro

RP- When Carmenere is bad, it’s very, very bad. But when it’s good? it’s sublime as Terrunyo, a winery under the Concha y Toro umbrella, has demonstrated on several occasions. The 2005 Carmenere is opaque purple in colour with a kinky perfume of smoky oak, violets, spice box, blueberry preserves, and blackberry liqueur. This leads to a silky textured wine with remarkable richness, concentration, and depth. This opulent effort conceals enough structure to evolve for 3-5 years but can be enjoyed now as well as over the next 10-15 years.
2005 £20.00 RP93
2008-23

    VIÑA SENA

RP/Jay Miller - Sena is one of Chile’s icon wines and deservedly so.
Viña Sena was originally a partnership between Eduardo Chadwick and Robert Mondavi but since the demise of the Mondavi empire, Sena has been going it alone. The fruit is entirely sourced from the Sena Hillside Vineyard which is biodynamically farmed.

jamessuckling.com - Complex aromas of blueberry, rose petal, liquorice, and currant. Full body, ultra fine tannins and a fresh and clean finish. Balanced and very refined. A wonderful purity and beauty. Give it three to four years to come together but already a beauty. A blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Carmenere, 11% Malbec, 8% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot.
