    DOMAINE ARNOUX-LACHAUX
A top Burgundy specialist, so whatever wine you buy from this domaine you get quality!

62 75cl Bourgogne Rouge
'Pinot Fin'
Arnoux-Lachaux
AM -
A very fresh and lightly spiced nose of red and dark currant leads to supple and admirably pure flavours that display just a hint of earth on the balanced, persistent and saline-inflected finish.
This would make a good house red.
2012 £19.00 AM88
2015-21

Note: from 60+ year old vines based on the original pinot fin strain that is so highly regarded today.

    DOMAINE FAIVELEY
An excellent Burgundy Negociant/Grower address.

24 75cl Mercurey Rouge
 'Framboisiere'
Domaine Faiveley
jancisrobinson.com/Julia Harding:
Cask sample. Mid cherry red. Deliciously fragrant with red fruit. It may be auto-suggestion but there's raspberry fruit in here. A touch smoky but fine and refined with freshness to the end. Juicy, lively.
2012 £20.00 JR/JH16.5/20

    DOMAINE
AURELIEN VERDET
A good domaine, making tasty wines with a good fruit/tannin balance.

11 75cl Fixin
Aurelien Verdet

2009 £18.00 2012-25

I had this wine at a wine-tasting: very nice, tasty, full body, round and good acidity.

    WHITE WINE
    DOMAINE CHANSON
Since 1999 Domaine Chanson has been owned by the BOLLINGER Champagne  Group; who in 2001 embarked on large-scale investment programme aimed at improving the quality of the wines.
This Domaine has really improved since 2005 due to large-scale investment.
As yet, the market has not woken-up to this fact, so you pay for the wine NOT the label.

Great value - please try them!

71 75cl Macon
'La Roche Vineuse'
Chanson

RP - The 2011 Macon-La Roche-Vineuse has a lifted bouquet with apple peel, pear and a touch of nectarine that is well-defined but needs more vigour. The palate is nicely balanced with hints of white peach and nectarine on the entry, and a touch of spice on the sidelines.

2011 £9.00 RP86
2013-18

    MAISON VERGET
Top Maconais negociant making consistently good whites, especially the Macon, St Veran and Pouilly wines.

36 75cl Chablis
'Cuvee de la Butte'
Verget

AM -
There is a bit more typicity to the pear, citrus and iodine-scented nose that displays a somewhat curious hint of sauvignon blanc. There is better vibrancy to the detailed and subtly mineral-inflected medium weight flavours that culminate in a saline, complex and slightly more persistent finale. This too should drink well young.
2015 £16.00 AM88
2018-24
37 75cl Macon Terroirs de Vergisson
'La Roche'
Verget

AM -
A trace of residual sulphur blows off relatively quickly to reveal attractively layered aromas of honeysuckle, pear and apple. There is good underlying tension to the lightly saline-inflected medium weight flavours that possess a delicious yet entirely serious finish. This is lovely, particularly for what it is and I like the lemon-tinged finale.
2012 £12.00 AM88
2014-20
24 75cl Pouilly Fuissé
'La Roche'
Verget

AM -
There is a touch of the exotic present on the moderately woody aromas of pear liqueur, lemongrass and discreet spice. The delicious, round and attractively textured middle weight flavours possess better mid-palate density while delivering fine length on the citrus-inflected and prominently dry finish. This will need a few years to develop better depth but the underlying material appears to exist such that it can happen.
2016 £20.00 AM91
2018-25
24 75cl Saint Veran
'Vigne de Saint-Claude'

Verget

AM -
Moderate wood sets off the ripe aromas of pear liqueur, spice and floral wisps. The very rich, succulent and utterly delicious full-bodied flavours deliver sneaky good length on the refreshing finish. This solidly concentrated effort is not particularly complex at present but I like the underlying material sufficiently to believe that more depth will develop quickly if this is allowed a few years of cellar time.
2016 £18.00 AM89
2018-26
